Description

This gall wasp is widely distributed across the western Palaearctic from Morocco to Iran. It is characteristics by an irregularly shaped, woody multilocular gall 10-40 mm across which develops on buds. It is green when young with a slightly fluffy surface, later becoming brown. Basal part is round with irregular number of outgrowths. There live several larvae inside one gall. Adults leave gall through many openings in basal part of gall.
