Melampsora salicina
Melampsora salicina
Description
The intermediate host of this rust is larrch, on which spermogonia and eciá (deposits of spring spores) occur. Uredia (deposits of summer spores) and bodies (deposits of winter spores) are present on the underside of willow leaves since mid-June. Due to their occurrence, they reduce the assimilation area on both larch and willows. In case of severe infection, the leaves are covered with a layer of yellow to orange powder, the leaves are curly and dry. Significant economic damage is caused in plantations, where this fungus can reduce biomass production.
