Ash powdery mildew

Description

One of the consequences of warm dry weather in summer may be an outbreak of powdery mildew on broadleaves. The symptoms of infection include a white film on the ash leaves and, in late summer, formation of tiny bright orange or brown pellets. These are the sporebearing cleistothecia. The affected leaves wilt, turn brown and fall off. The shoots suffer from late ripening and are susceptible to early frost damage.
