Oak roller Aleimma loeflingiana

Description

The larva rolls up oak leaves to a pipe, similarly as Archips xylosteana. It occurs along with the whole complex of oak rollers. The feeding of larvae is the most intense in the middle of April and in early May. The adult larva leaves the leaf roll and pupates in forest litter. A pale brown moth with 1.3-1.5 cm wingspan fly in June. Under favourable conditions an outbreak and even defoliation can occur.
