Large fruit bark beetle
Description
The beetle is about 3.5 mm long. A one-branched egg gallery runs in the direction of the trunk axis. It is slightly wider around the entrance hole and it is about 10 cm long. The gallery is deeply cut into sapwood. It preferentially attacks very weak or dead trees. It is common on fruit trees in gardens, but also in forest stands. Common in Europe.
